Explore our real-world testing grounds where innovations come to life. Visit our field sites to see sustainable technologies in action.
Our Living Lab provides an opportunity for stakeholders to physically visit and explore technologies deployed in real communities. Each site showcases practical solutions addressing local challenges in waste management, sanitation, energy, and water harvesting.
We have established demonstration sites across Mukono District where you can interact with communities benefiting from these technologies and learn from their experiences.
Our Living Lab features technologies implemented across various communities in Mukono District
Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) technology converts organic waste into high-protein animal feed and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. This sustainable waste management solution reduces environmental pollution while creating economic opportunities for communities.
Fossa Alterna toilets constructed using plastic bottles provide safe, sustainable sanitation in rural communities. These eco-friendly facilities promote hygiene and reduce open defecation while utilizing locally available materials.
Biogas technology provides clean, renewable energy for cooking and lighting in rural communities. It converts organic waste into methane gas, reducing reliance on firewood and charcoal while improving indoor air quality.
Low-cost storm water harvesting ponds capture and store rainwater for household use and small-scale irrigation. A waterproof liner (blue in color) is installed in excavated ponds to prevent seepage, while aquatic plants help naturally filter and clean the stored water.
High-quality eco briquettes made from recycled organic waste materials as a sustainable alternative to traditional cooking fuels. They burn longer, produce less smoke, and are cost-effective.
Our locally fabricated machines designed for community-based production and recycling
Grinds raw biomass into fine particles for briquette production
Breaks down plastic waste into small flakes for processing
Melts and extrudes shredded plastic into pellets or profiles
Separates clean banana fibre from wet pseudo-stem
Breaks down waste paper into pulp through mechanical agitation
Used for molding and compressing various materials into finished products
Visit these communities to see the technologies in action and learn from local beneficiaries
